How we treat it

Milestone based rehab

Clear stages — from early movement to strength and function — guided by your surgeon’s protocol.

Manual therapy

Hands on techniques to reduce stiffness and improve joint movement.

Progressive exercise

Exercises that build strength, balance and walking ability safely over time.

Return to daily life

Practice for stairs, getting up from a chair, work tasks and the activities that matter to you.

How rehabilitation works

  1. Bring your surgery or discharge notes and any scans so we can follow your surgeon’s advice.
  2. We assess pain, swelling, movement, strength and walking.
  3. We set goals for each stage of recovery and agree on how often to visit.
  4. Each session progresses your exercises as healing allows, with a home programme in between.

Frequently asked questions

When should I start physiotherapy after surgery?

This depends on the operation and your surgeon’s instructions. Many people begin gentle rehabilitation soon after surgery. Please follow your surgeon’s advice and bring your notes to the first visit.

Will physiotherapy be painful?

Some exercises may feel uncomfortable, but we work within limits that are safe for your stage of healing and adjust treatment based on how you respond.

Do I need a referral?

If you are recovering from surgery, please bring your surgeon’s notes or protocol. Contact us if you are unsure what to bring.
